Pitch for the International Microtonalist

Pitch for the International Microtonalist is a complete set of reference materials designed to facilitate independent development in microtonal music. Pitch is organized as a single volume divided into four individual issues:

  1. A collector’s item containing introductory articles on microtonal music and just intonation, historical articles by Busoni and Partch, reviews, and more.
  2. A comprehensive research document including articles on novel scales, historical tunings, psychoacoustics, and microtonal MIDI; reviews of books, recordings, and performances; plus annotated bibliography, discography, cassettography, and more.
  3. An extended-length audiocassette featuring recordings of rare concert performances of works by such microtonal pioneers as Partch and Wyschnegradsky, as well as contemporary composers.
  4. A copious reference comprising articles on novel scales and non-Western tuning; an interview and more reviews; biographical sketches of international microtonalists; unique microtonal fingering charts for many acoustic instruments; more.

Pitch for the International Microtonalist is a publication of the American Festival of Microtonal Music (AFMM), a not-for-profit corporation. Johnny Reinhard has edited all four issues of Pitch.
